The MEDES Foundation is a research organization committed to the creation of an “innovative and resilient society” in which state bodies, universities, local authorities, big and small business and local residents alike can work together for sustainable economic and social development. The foundation’s objective is to act as a link between research centers, universities, state bodies, local authorities and communities, to “translate” theoretical findings into tangible local projects. The MEDES Foundation recognizes that innovation today doesn’t necessarily involve producing a ‘product’. Instead, innovation comes in the form of education, knowledge, applications of new methods, new skills and new ways of structuring and organizing community projects. To reach its objectives the MEDES Foundation: promotes research into rural and local development, translating ‘know how’ and ‘best practices’ for sustainable development into projects that can be implemented in local communities.
